Description

Ask around your local VFW about what a military police soldier does for a living. The answers will make you laugh, cringe, and sometimes simply lean back at the nonsensical tales we evoke from our comrades in arms. Even to the standard military police soldier, their experiences from one to the next are largely different depending on any number of influences. Whether that is duty station, deployments, specific type of military police.

In this book, you will see the far edge of the combat spectrum for a military police soldier. Every so often, military police get training that enables them to be attached to units conducting missions well outside the purview of a standard military police soldier. For those soldiers, their story goes largely untold. Whether due to the incredulity of the story, or because some stories are hard to talk about. The events in this book are told exactly as they happened. Some have been modified due to security concerns and for the privacy of comrades. Ghosts of the Valley gives a full spectrum recount of the incidents that took place in Afghanistan, and the recovery process that became necessary upon return to the peace of home. The book itself will hopefully serve as a benefit to soldiers who have not yet deployed, civilians who struggle to understand the average combat veteran, and the soldiers who have redeployed that still struggle in their recovery process.

The book is not meant to glorify war, but to expose the horrors of it. Ghosts of the Valley also provides a comprehensive, and up-to-date as of the publication, list of resources for those struggling with PTSD, or those who simply need help.

4 of 5 A must about our American soldiers during deploym June 19, 2020
Reviewer: D. Moran- Amazon Review
Just finished reading Ghost of the Valley. To hear the story of a soldier and trying to understand what our American soldiers go through along with their families during deployment was an eye opener. I recommend reading this book to hear a soldier’s experience while deployed in Afghanistan.

Great read. Shares the stories of tragedies faced in war but also great perseverance when faced with uncertainty and being outnumbered. Sean Ambriz showed respect for life throughout the book and further encouraged treatment for those struggling.

5 of 5 You won't be able to put it down. June 19, 2020
Reviewer: Sabrina Prisk- Amazon Review
I recieved Ghosts of the Valley only this afternoon and by this evening I had already finished it. You won't be able to put it down once you start reading. Sean's storytelling of his own personal experiences put you right in the moment with him. It doesn't matter if you're another veteran, like myself or a civilian, it will give you a great sense of pride in our country's armed forces and the MP corps.

5 of 5 Definitely a must read June 19, 2020
Reviewer: Ashley - Amazon Review
From the start, this book just takes off. The amount of rawness and emotion put into the whole thing is more than enough to make you not want to put the book down. Being able to read first hand the amount of sacrifices and times this NCO places his soldier before him is amazing. For someone who loves to read books about war, this is it. For someone who is a civilian and wants to know the first hand effects of war and what our Soldiers endure, this is it. A must read.
