Description

Since the Revolutionary War, women have helped defend their nation and aid the front lines. However, the military is still very much a man's world with several misconceptions of the female Soldier. In a gender-integrated fighting force, one must throw out the common stereotypes of gender roles if one is to lead effectively.

Colonel Jo B. Rusin U.S. Army (Retired) explores how the female Soldier differs from her male comrades, and analyzes the conflicts that are often experienced between them. This book is designed to give men, who have had limited experience leading women, the insight and knowledge necessary to lead women successfully. It is a short course in skills that can otherwise take months or years to learn from personal experience.

“…offers keen insights into the leadership challenges and culture of today’s gender-integrate military; a must read of leaders at every level!”
—Norman M Wade, Author/Publisher, Military SMARTbooks
“This book is an excellent read for leaders of all levels. The examples used… are a road map for taking care of all soldiers.”
—CSM (R) Robert Whiteford, Former Corps of Cadets CSM, Us Military Academy, West Point
“…Women on Your Team has given me a better perspective of leadership challenges face by my female cadets. I intend to integrate her work into our curriculum.”
—LTC (R) Ken Hinkle, Jupiter HS JROTC, Senior Army Instructor

5 of 5 A must-read for all leaders!! April 9, 2020
Reviewer: Jennifer Disch (Amazon Review)
A must read for today's leaders, military and civilian, regarding successful gender integration at the workplace. Col Rusin has the experience being a high ranked Army soldier during the time of a male-dominated U.S. Army. While active duty Air Force, this book helped me through the most challenging part of my military career. Col Rusin graciously came and spoke to my leaders at the Keesler AFB JAG office, who thoroughly appreciated her words of wisdom.

5 of 5 Leadership Enlightenment April 9, 2020
Reviewer: James E. Amos (Amazon Review)
This is a guide (full of true stories) that I think should be curriculum at all our military academies and OC/ROTC programs. Had I had this advice in hand during my Army career, I would have been a much better officer/leader, soldier and mentor - Jim Amos, M.A., PHR, CNA, U.S. Army Retired/American Red Cross

5 of 5 Sound Advice on Ten Team Integration April 9, 2020
Reviewer: (Amazon Review)
I especially thought the chapter on how to protect one's self from frivolous accusations from female team mates will come in handy in the coming years. Thanks to Cat Tobin for recommending this book to me. I'll never forget you in Kabul.
